Bill Porterfield FCIPD
Director: Strategic People Development
I am a senior HR Professional with significant international experience across all areas of Human Resource Management specifically within the Electronics and Scotch Whisky industries, my last role being Head of HR, Europe for a global drinks company.
My passion is in managing change, supporting and encouraging employers to get the best out of staff through strategic employee engagement. I believe that engaged and focused employees are the key to a successful business model where employees and management alike can clearly envisage and align themselves to future success and share in the benefits that success brings.
How I Work
I tend to be very enthusiastic when involved in a project and, when tasked to do something, I give it my full focus. I am the eternal optimist, never taking “that’ll never work” for an answer and always look to find the best solution when confronted with barriers.
Outside of work I enjoy playing drums with my covers band “On The Edge”.
A senior, hands on Operations Director with over 20 years experience in the recruitment sector.
I bring a wealth of consultancy expertise having been involved in a wide variety of projects over the years ranging from high volume, multi-site temporary staffing to providing niche clients with bespoke search and selection assignments for senior technical and managerial positions.
Over the years I have successfully delivered projects for clients both here in the UK and across multiple international locations supporting bespoke recruitment, operational and employee development requirements.
I provide a comprehensive and valuable insight into identifying, attracting and retaining key candidates.
Previous experience working in senior managerial positions within the Electronics and Supply Chain sectors provides me with specialised skills and knowledge within these particular disciplines in addition to having developed an extensive network of global senior connections.
I enjoy travelling, fine dining and visiting Michelin star restaurants along with my wife Elaine. We’ve currently sampled fifteen to date and are looking forward to visiting a few more soon.

Currently in my final honours year of study for my law degree. Over the past three years I have spent the time out of university working in talent acquisition which I have found to be an interesting and rewarding role.
Over the period I found myself getting involved with industries such as food and drinks, electronics, accountancy, ICT and many more. It amazes me how very unique each business is; two companies operating in the same industry and located in the same town will have very different cultures, techniques and processes. This is where my skills come into play. It is my job to find my client the right candidate and find my candidate the right role, not just match a CV to a job description. All in all businesses need people and people need safe fulfilling careers and I take pride in playing a part in bringing them together.
How I Work
My experience in recruitment and the skills acquired through my degree allows me to add value to our organisation and its requirements in order to find the best client solutions whether that be recruitment of new staff, learning and development programs or promoting existing staff. More recently, I have become increasingly involved in supporting the rest of the team in Employment Law issues. Ultimately I add value to the business through providing the skills, experience and knowledge our client base requires to drive a successful future.
More about me
In my spare time I enjoy fishing for trout or acquiring interesting bottles of whisky for my extensive collection (although I do prefer to catch the latter).

I have worked in the resourcing and recruitment industry for over 15 years, specialising in Information Technology across both the private and commercial sectors.
My extensive experience in all aspects of the recruitment lifecycle, candidate attraction and client engagement, allows me to provide bespoke resourcing support for positions such as ICT Project Management, Senior Security Management, Enterprise Architects, SAP/Oracle Consultants, Software Developers & IT Infrastructure.
How I Work
I am passionate about the IT sector and very interested to learn and keep up to date with evolving new technologies. I find great pleasure in working with key clients in order to meet their needs and ultimately placing the right candidates into the right jobs!
Outside of work I love to keep fit, go on sunny holidays and spend time with the family.
